Monitoring cisco 2940

Monitoring cisco 2940

Hi.

I'm trying to monitor my 2940s, but am not getting the right values back.

I added the Cisco2940 as a new device type, which seemed to work well. It now autodiscovers the 2940s as 2940s, rather than as desktops.

However, when trying to monitor their memory/cpu resources using the default monitor. It seems to default to the host-resources mib and tries to get values for the wrong OID .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.5.1.1.2 whereas it should be something like (.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.48.1.1.1.5.1*100)/(.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.48.1.1.1.5.1+.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.48.1.1.1.6.1)

I don't seem to be able to persuade it to actually query the latter OIDs. When trying to do so with the mib browser, it tells me the OID doesn't exist in this MIB (Cisco), or any of the other MIBs, which makes me wonder how the other switches know about it.

I can't set up a monitor querying the OID either, because of the same reason (doesn't exist).

In the Cisco MIB, the whole ciscoMgmt tree (1.3.6.1.4.1.9) doesn't seem to exist.

It should be added that I can query the OID values 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.48.1.1.1.5.1 and 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.48.1.1.1.6.1 fine for this device from my BSD box, from which I conclude the SNMP on the switch is working fine.

Maybe I've kind of lost focus at this point.

Error message in the mib browser, when querying 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.48.1.1.1.5.1 on any switch (even the 4500s which /do/ respond):

Request failed or timed out. Response PDU received from 10.12.1.221
Error Indication in response:
There is no such variable name in this mib.
