Monitor user sessions in JBoss
Hi there,
I provide application hosting for a particular J2EE application (Saba), and as part of my service I want to provide my customers with a monthly report that gives them visibility into how the users use the application.
I have been evaluating a number of monitoring systems (Hyperic, Nagios, Zenoss, and Applications Manager) - so far the clear winner is Applications Manager. I love the interface and ease of adding a new Monitor.
Some of the things I want to report on are:
Application up time
Application down time (apart from scheduled outages)
Peak number of user sessions
Average number of user sessions (this one could be tricky)
Most visited pages
Plus the normal stuff like CPU and memory usage, JVM memory usage, etc
The technology stack is:
Windows Server 2003
JBoss 4.0.5
Apache 2.0.58
SQL Server 2005
I am especially interested in metrics to do with user sessions. On the information page for monitoring JBoss (manageengine.adventnet.com/products/applications_manager/monitoring-jboss.html) it says I can monitor user sessions.
I have added a JBoss monitor, but I can't figure out how to monitor user sessions.
Can someone help me in this regard?
Cheers,
Paul
