Modeling virtual environments
I'm interested in Service Desk Plus, and I have the Enterprise demo installed.
I can;t quite visualise how to model a typical virtual environment, in the CMDB part of this product.
I have Multiple VM Hosts, these form my VM Cluster.
I have Multiple VM Guests, these require the VM Cluster to be available.
Thinking about assets and thier relationships.
I would intuitively want to define that VM CLuster *contains* VM-Guests.
But it seem only components can be contained.
Similarly I would intuitivly state that VM Cluster *uses* the VM Hosts.
But only users use
The relationship *Connects to* seems not quite right.
What I'm trying to achive is to model something like this.
Messaging Service is provided by Mail Sever and is used by Staff Group A
Mail Sever depends on VM Cluster
VM Cluster depends on either VMHost1 or VMHost2
VMHost1 and VMHost2 depend on SAN
If there is going to be an outage on SAN, this will shutdown VMHost1 and VMHost2 which will stop VMCluster, and therefore Mail Server will not be available to provide Messaging Service to GroupsA
Email Outage notification to GroupA
Is this sort of thing possible with Service Desk Plus ?
