Microsoft Windows 2022 Servers Unexpectedly Upgrades to 2025

The issue appears to stem from KB5044284, an update released during October's Patch Tuesday. While this update is intended for Windows Server 2025, Microsoft's patch management systems have misclassified it, leading to it being treated as an OS upgrade for Windows Server. As a result, it has been erroneously applied to server environments where it should not be installed.

At this time, we do not support the deployment of update KB5044284 for Windows Server 2025 through our products, and it is not possible to deploy this update via our products.

Several customers have reached out regarding methods to block the Windows Server 2025 upgrade. We would like to remind customers that if they had previously deployed our "Disable Check for Updates" or "Disable Automatic Updates" patches, they would not be experiencing this issue.

Please ensure these patches are applied to avoid automatic updates to Windows Server 2025 if this is not desired. Refer to this page for more.
