Mailing users......or not

I have a couple of templates set up that automatically close the call as soon as it is logged. However, this does then send 2 mails to the user - 1 to confirm opening a call and 1 to close it. As these templates are usually used to log a call that is resolved whilst the user is on the phone, I would like the option to not send mails in this case. Can anybody advise?
