Lync setup without Telephone Number

I have just upgraded to the latest release to more easily support enabling users for Lync when creating accounts. We had previously been using a custom script but when I saw that ADManager Plus could do it I upgraded.

The problem I'm having is that we do not actually use Lync with our phone system and only do PC-to-PC calling. As such we have no telephone numbers associated with any of our user accounts. This causes an error when creating the account and fails to enable the user for Lync.

When I tried to clear out the field in the user creation templates it automatically repopulates it.

Is there anyway I can leave this field blank in the user creation template?
