Hey Spiceheads, got a bit of a quandary here, we're cracking the nut on custom internal desktop applications for some of our heavy lifting applications and I've been tasked with finding an A - Z method of setting the environment, and currently find myself stalled on application deployment.

I know you can toss things to the wild using GPO, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, and PDQ; however, as I've got zero experience with these tools, and the fact is that I'm a web developer, not a sysadmin, I'm wondering if the community has any suggestions, advisement, or input regarding various deployment systems for custom applications.

So here's the skinny, this is a largely (over 95%) windows environment that's humming and haaing at mobile, so at this time, while it would be nice, MDM is not a requirement. I need a windows solution that can push applications to a windows machine, preferably by username, bonus points for if the app list can be controlled using SQL so we can look in to developing a unified application access front-end with our intranet web apps at the same time.
