Linux SNMP Details Not Being Seen By OpManager?
Hi!
I've successfully created some SNMP monitors for an XP machine and can view plenty of details including its disc, CPU and memory utilization etc. However for Linux machines it doesn't seem to be as straightforward.
For example I downloaded & ran the AdventNet LinuxAgent (on RedHat Fedora 4) however OpManager wouldn't recognise the machine as being SNMP enabled (no blue star in map view). So having stopped the agent I tried starting up the system's own snmpd. OpManager sees this as an SNMP enabled machine (shows the blue star in map view) and presents me with _some_ details when I drill down into the machine via OpManager's map view etc. Using snmpd I can for example see the SysDec and interface names of the machine.
However none of the pretty 'speedometer' graphics are visible that contain CPU / disc / memory utilization that I can see when calling up an SNMP enabled XP box.
Anyone have any thoughts? I presume snmpd and the LinuxAgent are mutually exclusive - i.e; I should use one or the other but not both.
When it's working does the LinuxAgent provide more functionality (as far as OpManager is concerned) than snmpd ?
Thanks in advance,
Steve
