Kbytes/sec or Kbits/sec

Kbytes/sec or Kbits/sec

After monitoring some nic's it wasn't clear to me if the graphs show me the traffic rates in kilobytes/sec or kilobits/sec. Following the rules it would be kbits/sec cause the "b" is lowercase...
