Issue with email requests

Good morning,
We recently have implemented the ability for our end users to submit servicedesk requests via email. Unfortunately, every time someone sends an email in it somehow crashes certain functions of the system.
ServiceDesk is still operational, but we stop receiving ticket requests and email notifications of any sort. Once we reboot the server all of the requests that were submitted since the email request flood into the system.
Have other ServiceDesk users encountered this issue?
