Inventory Assets on import default to 'Is Leased' NO

All my assets in the system at the moment are leased. When I view from the Inventory tab, the default for 'Is Leased' is NO, and the 'lease expiry date' not populated.
Is it possible that when assets are allocated to contracts under the contracts area, that it should populate this view in the inventory -- since the contracts area is really where the leasing / date information is stored.
