Interface error alarms (switches & Routers after upgrade

Interface error alarms (switches & Routers after upgrade

Hi,

Ever since our upgrade to Version 7 of OpManager (patched to 7023), we have noticed that we are getting a large number of "Error Rate" alarms on a large number (over 100) of our switch and router interfaces. Previous to the upgrade we never saw any alarms on interface errors and were under the assumption that all was right in the world of OZ.

Unfortunately this problem is causing several hundred alarm emails a day now and is getting quite frustrating especially after chasing our tails thinking we had issues with some of our ISDN interfaces and called in our telco and others to help troubleshoot what was thought to be real issues. After monitoring several ISDN interfaces there are no errors or they are well and truly below the amount being reported. At the moment over 50% of the alarms are stating "100% Error Rate" which if was true the interface would be down for traffic and useless any ways.

A search of the forum shows several other users have experienced this problem but there doesn't appear to be a solution or explanation as to why this is all of a sudden occurring. The only solution appears to be to stop monitoring the interfaces for errors.

- Is there a way to do this 'globally' without going to each interface and disabling the error monitoring?

- Is this 'bug' going to be looked at and possibly fixed in a patch release?

As always any and all assistance will be appreciated.

Cheers,

Matt
