Install Cisco AnyConnect

Hi,
Cisco Anyconnect is something we need to install to over 1000 devices. For the fact vpnui.exe is running all the time, the update cannot install by way of a 'normal' Patch Deployment.

I setup a manual config so vpnui.exe process was ended pre-install, which allows the install to happen, with the idea of running the vpnui.exe as a post install to give the user their login prompt back.

However, the config never finishes properly for the fact it continues to be “In Progress” despite the install finishing successfully. My theory is EC starts the vpnui.exe post install but, as it continues to run, EC is waiting for it to stop before seeing the install as complete. Proved by the fact if I end the vpnui.exe process, the config completes successfully.

Other attempts, by calling the vpnui.exe from a batch file, pointing to its ProgramData .lnk file or calling from a Custom Script, fail saying the script never run, even though it has run and launched the login prompt.

For that fact, reports cannot be relied on as to whether it was actually successful or not.

How can I run an executable post install and not have EC ‘see’ it as running so it can end the config correctly?

Cheers,
Steve.
