I am attempting to evaluate moving from an Open Source network monitoring solution to OPManager, but have run into a real perfomance bottleneck.
Current setup:
VMWare ESX Virtual Machine (2 Gb RAM, 2 Processors) for the OPManager station. MSSQL backend database Gigabit Ethernet Connection
I have approximately 45 switches (mix of Cisco and DLink) entered and discovered, but the discovery process (or just about any process) is taking a very long time.
Are there any tuning parameters that I can set in order to improve performance? It is taking up to 5 minutes to discover a new switch and moving between views or other pages is becoming painful. I dread to think what it will be like when I enter all 130 of my switches (let alone any servers) into OPManager.
I am also running ZenOSS (open source) which is handling all of my switches and servers (148 servers, 127 switches) on a single processor machine (and running MySQL as well).
