Importing French Canadian names from AD

We recently integrated our Canadian users into SD+ but for any users who have "non-standard" characters in their name like "�ric" (or any letter with an accent marking) don't import from AD at all and seem to show up as failed records during the import.
Is there a setting in SD+ I can change to recognize those users?
