I am back again with an update to 6.0 release
For those who are eagerly awaiting the 6.0 release, here is an update for you with the list of features taken up......
Dont stop with the list alone..... Read through the entire post to find something which you have been expecting.....
( Am i building your expectations here???? )
1. MSSQL backend database.
2. Category / sub-Category / Item - A three level drill down for the category, which will populate the respective sub-categories on choosing a category and the respective items on choosing a sub-category.
3. Role for Reports - You can now select a role for technician to view the reports just as you do for Requests/Solutions/Inventory/Purchase/Contracts.
4. Department Head Role - A role which can be assigned to requesters which enables them to view the requests raised by other users from the same department.
5. Keep me Signed in - an option in the login page, which when enabled once, will directly take you to the home page without the overhead of logging in again and again, unless your password is not changed.
6. Predefined Templates for Requests - a configurable template to be show/hidden from Requesters.
7. An approval process for Requests.
8. Mandatory fields while closing a request.
9. Edit few/all requests at the same time - you can edit all the request fields here.
10. Save Reply to Requests as Drafts
11. Scheduled Import from Active Directory - You will have an option here to choose the fields to import from AD, the fields would be one or more among Phone, Department, Email, Mobile, Job Title. The default field is the loginname.
12. Disable My Details from Requester Login in the Self Service Portal - this is a configurable option.
13. The Global View in the Home Page will now show all technicians.
14. Option to choose the actual working date and time while adding Time Entries to Requests.
15. Notify technicians at a pre-configured interval before the SLA is violated.
16. An option to view the Requests raised by the Requester under Admin -> Requesters -> [Requester Name].
17. Customize the Survey Email sent to requesters.
18. Customize SLA notification email.
19. Edit Requester Information from the Request View Page - you now need not go to Admin -> Requesters everytime to edit the requester information.
20. Add/Edit/View Notes to Requests from the Request List View page.
21. Edit a Request inline - You can now edit all fields to a request inline instead of using the Edit link.... The Edit link will still be there if you want to edit the description.
22. Merge Requests is now simpler - select the requests to merge from the List View. You can also choose more than one request to merge with the parent.
23. Spell Check while Replying to Requests.
24. Add Tasks to Requests to share the load among the technicians.
25. Support for inline images in Solutions.
26. Data Migration across Windows/Linux is now possible.
27. Send Email notification as soon as you post an announcement.
28. An option to add resolution while adding the request
29. You will now be able to see the Database Structure with interlinking columns while creating a query report.
I will update our demo website http://demo.servicedeskplus.com/ with a QA build, to enable you all to test these features. Be a part of our testing process and send us your suggestions/ideas. The update will happen sometime next week. Watch the discussions here for this update. Isnt this an info which you have been expecting????? 
The list doesnt stop here.... There are more than a couple of dozen issues being fixed in this update.
