HTTPS redirect doesn't work with mobile view

This is quite urgent.
I followed the instruction to set up redirect from HTTP to HTTPS here:

The only step I didn't do is step #3.
When viewed using mobile devices, it still managed to display the http version.
I can, however, browse manually to https when in mobile view.
Viewing the site using Firefox on win 7 pc, I can go to port 80 on http://servicedesk.domain.com/mc/ (this is the address displayed on mobile browsers).
Please advise.
