How to prevent multiple email alerts for the same event.

I am using ADAudit Plus - build 5053. I have an Alert Profile that notifies me when an SACL change has been made on a file share. The problem I am having is that I receive multiple emails about the same alert (sometimes these alerts are days old). This is causing the alerts to lose effectiveness as people see them as false positives and ignore them. Is there any way to only receive 1 alert email per event?
