How to port over 'Request Type' values to default 'Request Type'

HI All -

Back in 2014 when we first purchased Service Desk, there was not a field called 'Request Type' so we actually created it as custom.  Years later, SDP released this field as Default and we have just been using our Custom Request Type since without issue.  However, there are criteria drop down that have the Default Request Type but not custom selections so we want to be able ot leverage this which means we need to port over to the standard/default 'Request Type' field. 

Can someone suggest the best way in doing this?  Would it be simply doing mass selection from the Request page and tagging and updating the new field? Is there a better approach from the back end?
