How to exclude drives from patch scan

Is it possible to exclude drives from the patch scan activity, e.g. via a registry key (I did not find a management option)?
I'm reviewing EPC (latest version) for a client and one observation is that the agent is unstable on larger Windows storage systems.
dcpatchscan.exe apparently performs a scheduled MFT scan on all attached drives, as noted by the log message "Started MFT Drive Scan for NTFS Drive:..."
This is not appropriate for systems like file servers, because it does not scale. In my tests, the scan of the C drive is finished quickly, while the immediately following scan of a data volume with several millions of files never reaches the "Total file count for drive..." message. Dcpatchscan.exe constantly crashes or uses large amounts of memory on its way there. The system can only be scanned when the data drive is detached.
