How to automate AD user provisioning using a CSV file via ADManager Plus
ADManager Plus allows you to automatically create AD users without using any scripts.
Rules for creating a CSV file required for automating AD user creation
1. The first row of the CSV file must contain the LDAP names of the AD attributes whose values you wish to set. To view a complete list of all the LDAP attributes that can be specified in a CSV file for user creation or modification, click here.
2. Each successive row is a user record that contains the values for the respective LDAP attributes.
3. All The CSV file must contain mandatory attributes values like givenName, sn, and more, for successful user creation. Click here to view a sample CSV file.
Steps to automatically provision AD users using a CSV file via ADManager Plus
1. Logon to ADManager Plus and click on the Automation tab.
2. Click on Create New Automation.
3. Specify a suitable name and description for the automation.
4. Set the Automation Category to User Automation.
5. Select the Domain and OU of your choice.
6. Select Create users as the task that you wish to automate.
7. Select the Template to be applied during user creation.
8. Select Data From CSV as the source from which you wish to import user details and enter the path of your CSV file.
9. Select the Select only the appended objects from the file to import only the new objects from the specified CSV file.
10. If you wish to review and approve every user creation task before it is actually executed through this automation, then select the Implement Business Workflow option.
11. Specify the time interval and frequency at which the task must be executed.
12. Select the Enable Notification option if you wish to notify technicians or administrators whenever a task is executed.
13. Click on Save. The task will be executed at the specified time. To view the status of the automated operation, click on the History icon beside the automation name and click View Objects.
