How to authenticate from OpManager to AD enabled SDP?

I'm trying to set up integration between OpManager and Servicedesk plus but I 'm having problems with the authentication in the OpMgr "Add-On/Products Settings" section.
ServiceDesk Plus is set up with Active Directory authentication, hence I need to specify the logon account name, logon domain, and password.
Problem is in OpManager there's no where to specify the domain name when setting up the integration between SDP and Opmgr. I have tried domain\username, username@domain and just username, but I keep getting the message:
Unable to fetch values from ServiceDesk Plus, The server might not be running or the network traffic may be too high.
If I log on manually to the STEP server and then to the OpManager server I am able to jump back and forth between the two via SDP/OpMgr button.
Am I missing out on something here?
