How to add a software product to a PO?

How to add a software product to a PO?

Hi,

I'm trying to add a software product to a PO. That product is not already in the list, so I've to create it. So, I click the 'Add new product' button. In the windows that pops up, I choose 'Software' as Product Type. The I have to choose the software to add, but the software I want to add is not listed. This is a mandatory field, so I cannot go on and add the new software product.

I tried to add the product under the Admin section (Asset Management -> Product). In there I can add new managed software, but I only get a unmanaged software list and no option to manualy add new managed software. So, also in here I cannot go on.

I figured that I might have to add the new software as an Asset first under the Assets tab. I only have the option to add software under the 'Scanned Software' section, which is odd, because this is new software that cannot be scanned yet. But anyway, I went on, added the new software and then I am able to add it the a PO.

Is that the normal route for adding software to a PO or am I doing something wrong? I do not have to do this when adding hardware.
