How does SD+ detects if an incoming mail should be appended?

Everything is in the title ... How does SD+ detects if an incoming mail should be appended? I'm having problems with mails not being appended when they should.
Is that because I changed the "Subjects" of automatic replies ? (I use :
Re: [SD#$RequestId] $Title
)
