How AD Authentication Works ( SDP Build Version 4106 )
Hi,
ServiceDesk Plus has introduced a new feature wherein the authentication of the requesters & technicians will take place at the Active Directory (AD) Level.
In order to enabled this feature in SD+, use Admin -> Active Directory -> Select a Domain -> Enter the Server on which AD resides -> Active Directory Authentication.
This is how the feature works if you have chose to authenticate with AD.
1. You should create a user in AD with "admin" as the username. Specify a password for this user. Use this password to login to SD+. It is only with this login that you can perform admin operations like assigning roles to technicians, adding requesters, adding technicians, creating survey etc.
2. Once you login as "admin" into SD+, you can define roles and assign technicians to these roles using Admin -> Technician -> Add New Technician -> Fill-in Technician details -> Enable login for this technician -> Assign Roles.
3. Users (Requesters/Technicians) will use the same username and password as they use to login into the Active Directory Domain.
Hope this helps.
