GINA not working on some computers

GINA not working on some computers

We're noticing that some of our computers' GINA is working and some are not.   On the ones not working, when you click the reset / unlock link under the password prompt, it does nothing.   It adds a APPCrash event in the app event log.

 Looking at ADSelfServicePlusClient.log,  I can definitely see the issue.   Where is it pulling defUser?   See these lines:

A good working GINA results:

A bad working GINA results:

domainName=TEST.lan&version=4.2.4&defUser=Ä4
 
Note that the bad GINA has nothing relevant after defUser.

Any chance on where we might go to resolve this?
