General failure while scanning node.

We are running build 6010. We have two domains, separated via a VPN.

We have ServiceDesk running 'locally' at both locations. But when I try and scan the other domain from here the vast majority of machines come back with a 'General failure while scanning node'.

AFAIK no ports are being blocked by our VPN and these machines are read correctly by ServiceDesk at the remote location.

Any ideas?
