We need assistance with updating an app on devices enrolled in MobileEngine MDM. Due to a lost keystore, we can no longer sign the app with the original certificate, which prevents us from updating the app directly. Here are the details:
- Current Setup: The app is deployed and used on multiple devices through MobileEngine MDM. It’s a transactional app that stores offline data and syncs it to the server when internet connectivity is available.
- Challenge: The original keystore used to sign the app was lost during a hardware replacement. We have created a new keystore and signed a new version of the app, but we want to ensure a smooth, forced update of the app without requiring users to uninstall it manually.
- Data Preservation: The app holds sensitive offline transaction data. Our primary goal is to update the app while preserving this offline data during the transition, as data loss is not an option.
Request:
- Is there a way in MobileEngine MDM to force-install an app update with a different keystore without losing the existing app data?
- If a full uninstall and reinstall are required, is there any recommended approach or tool within MobileEngine MDM to back up and restore the app data as part of the update process?
