We’re making Feature Pack upgrades easier to manage. Starting with build 11.5.2627.01, Feature Packs will have their own dedicated Feature Pack view, along with separate Test & Approval and Automated Patch Deployment (APD) options.
Previously, Feature Packs were listed together with other patches under views such as Missing Patches, Supported Patches, and Latest Patches.
Because Feature Packs were grouped with OS and other patches, configuring separate approval and automated deployment workflows for them was difficult. For example, testing and deploying the latest Feature Pack (N) while continuing to use an older stable Feature Pack (N-1) required additional effort.
With this enhancement, you can now manage Feature Packs independently from regular patches, with their own:
Dedicated Feature Pack view
Test & Approval flow
Automated Patch Deployment configuration
This provides greater flexibility when testing, approving, and deploying Feature Pack updates.
If your existing Test Group or APD tasks include Feature Pack updates, they will be automatically separated after the upgrade.
A new Feature Pack-specific task will be created alongside the existing task.
For example:
Existing APD task:Deploy_Updates_Task
New Feature Pack task:Deploy_Updates_Task-Featurepack
The newly created Feature Pack task will:
Use the same deployment policy and configuration as the original task.
It displays the same Created By / Modified By user as the original task, while Created Time / Modified Time shows the date and time it was automatically created after the upgrade.
This is expected behavior and is part of the new organizational structure for managing Feature Packs separately.
There is no impact on your existing deployment operations, security, or compliance.
Feature Packs will continue to be deployed according to your existing configuration. The enhancement simply provides additional flexibility to manage Feature Packs independently from regular patches going forward.
