I have just got some events notified of services that are down; specifically the SQL server services. In a mild state of panic - being the end of the day on a friday and not wanting to work through the weekend - I jumped on the server to have a look and found that everything was normal. There are no events in the event log and certainly no issues with the server.

 

But no matter what I did Opmanager still believes that the services are not working.

 

For your visual reference have a look at the attached images that show the failed state in OpManager and then the SQL services on the server as being started.

 

These sorts of things are really shocking for our team, because any false positives start to make people complacent of the events when they occur.

 

Any ideas why this has happened? I recall this happening during the evaluation period and OpManager got over itself and realised it was working so eventually cleared the alert.
