I managed to get EL Analyzer to work on Linux and to collect log. Sadly it does not work properly with Windows remote system - using an EventLog->syslog converter works but it not ideal.
So, I installed the Windows version on Windows 2003 SP1 instead. But there I can't get *anything* to work!
Host discovery worked, I verify that login is successful using an admin enabled account. I can't get any event logs from the remote Windows systems (all 2003 themselves with firewall NOT enabled).
Then I tried to do a simulate, but even that doesn't work. Instead the event log on the analyzing server fills up with endless sequences of WSH errors. One after another of:
Failure audit Success audit Information Warning Error <....>
Over and over again! Again, all related to WSH (windows scripting host). But the events don't show much beyond "Login Script Failure 31". The "31" is some sequential number, as it is incremented for every batch.
I don't know if this is related to that MySQL error - you list an FAQ that there is/was a problem. You say there is not patch yet, but as of this writing, the link you provice that desribes the bug states that a patch has been out since mid December 2005!
I have to say, I like your products in principal. The pricing is certainly hard to beat - whether free or licensed. But, for products that are now in version 4 (Event) and 6 (OpManager) they sure have alot of quirks and require quite bit of tweaking to get to work. I suppose the problem-free installation of, say, a Quest Software Spotlight range of products, which we're also evaluating, is what you pay all that money for...
