Eval - high cpu, server shuts down
Hello, I am evaluating the software on a fairly small network with an admittedly old server, but capable nonetheless - W2K Advanced Server, P4 with 1GB ram, and all it's doing otherwise is mail (MDaemon). I have a Cisco 1760v router, monitoring 2 interfaces - one is 256k (TX only), and the other is 384k (RX only).
Now, I've installed the NetFlow software, and I get to the webpage, see the graphs, etc - all seems to be working as expected. But then, the webpage becomes unavailable. So I check the server - the ME service is no longer started and I can't get to http://localhost:8080 at all. When I try to start the NetFlow software, it says it cannot start MySQL on the specified port, and suggests I free the port. Then I tried to start the service itself - it started, the CPU went up to near 100%, and still the webpage is unavailable... this at a time when no-one's really in the office, and the bandwidth is really not being utilized at all....
My question is this: it's pretty apparent that my server is not going to be able to handle this software - but why not? How much data can it possibly be recording? Do I need a monster server to run this software? Or is there anything else I can do to record my traffic?
Thanks for any assistance - other than it not working, the software looks good and I was eager to see what it can do!
Thanks,
