ESX Montioring

I am evaluating OpManager for my business.
I am struggling a bit with vmware monitoing. We have a number of esx hosts (3 and 3.5) but when I discover the devices, OpMangaer does not show any VMs. Is this becuase the machines are configured as a cluster of ESX hosts? Does anybody know how to get around this?
Havig read recent posts I understand that ESX/i 4 is to be supported soon... this is will be a key in our decision.
