Enhanced Identification of 'Who Changed' the Configuration

Prior to the version 5210, DeviceExpert was dependent on syslog messages to identify 'who changed' the configuration in the devices.

In DeviceExpert 5210, we have enhanced the capability of capturing the information 'who changed' the configuration using the data available in the configuration file too and store the 'changed by' value in the database for future reference.

The enhancement serves a record on 'who changed' the configuration in a given version and adds a lot of value during auditing. In particular, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) lays stress on tight internal controls on access to privileged information, resources and applications. Auditing of 'who', 'what' and 'when' of configuration changes is the cornerstone of SOX. The current enhancement in DeviceExpert will help in ensuring compliance to SOX.

The above enhancement is currently applicable only for Cisco Routers and Switches. We are working on enhancing the capability to other devices such as Nortel, HP, DLink etc in the future releases.
