I have a potentially severe problem. I just got off with tech support.

I recently upgraded Endpoint Central to version 11.2.2300.8. A trial of the new Endpoint DLP add-on was in the upgrade. Foolishly, I tried it.

I created one rule to identify SSN's in documents.

Then, I deployed a policy using the only custom group available - Security Addon Free Edition CG. I set everything to Audit only and Enabled the policy to automatically override blocks.

Everything was great, except now I have some (not all) users who cannot print and receive a pop up from Endpoint Data Loss Prevention Plus saying their job has been blocked. There is no way to override the block.

So, I called Tech support. According to the tech, it is a known problem and they do not have a timeline to resolve it. It will be in a future release. I asked if there was anyway to backoff the policy that was deployed. NO, there is not and again, that will be in a future release.

The suggested solution was that we change the policy to allow printing to trusted devices and list every network and USB printer we have under trusted devices. That is great but we have a couple of hundred and there is a great chance of missing a few.

I need some help - if nothing else, a timeline of when this will be fixed or a way to undo the policy. All that seems to work is uninstalling the ManageEngine agent from the computer. That only works a short time because there is no way to stop the policy from re-deploying and no way to edit the custom group that came with this add-in to remove the computer affected.

Why was this released? Was there no Q testing? And, if it is a known issue, why is there nothing on the community board about it?
