[End of Support] 32-bit version of the Endpoint DLP Plus server is reaching EoS

Hello folks,

This forum post is to announce the End of Support for the 32-bit version of the Endpoint DLP Plus server.

To enhance the performance and security of the servers and streamline the agent-server communication workflow, we're ending support for the 32-bit version of the server from January 2023 onwards.

The update will be automated for servers running on 64-bit operating systems, when you apply the next PPM (for builds releasing from January 2023 onwards).

What prompted this change?

The changes are being rolled out to prioritize building a safer environment and reduce ambush attempts by threat actors as a result of less stricter security measures. In addition, users can also benefit with:

  • Reduced memory limitation: 32-bit computers can only use up to 3.5GB RAM since memory addresses beyond this limit cannot be used. Meanwhile, 64-bit Operating System can use up to 16 exabytes.

  • Enhanced computer performance: Unlike 32-bit operating systems, you can multi-task, switch between various applications seamlessly without experiencing system lags.

To whom does it apply?

This applies to all users of the 32-bit version of the Endpoint DLP Plus server.

If you've hosted the Endpoint DLP Plus server on a 64-bit system:

On 64-bit machines, the 32-bit version of the Endpoint DLP Plus server will automatically be updated by applying the new PPM.

If you've hosted the Endpoint DLP Plus server on a 32-bit system:

Servers being hosted on 32-bit systems need to be migrated to 64-bit systems. Once migrated, the server will automatically be updated by applying the new PPM.

Refer here for the steps to migrate server from one computer to another without losing any data.

Cheers,
The ManageEngine Team
