End of Public Updates for Java SE 8 - Commercial Users upgrade your package

Oracle has announced changes to ongoing support for Java SE 8 (Standard Edition). This forum describes how Desktop Central will continue its support for Java SE 8 in January 2019 and beyond.

In January 2019 Oracle will require those who wish to continue support for Java 8 SE to subscribe to the new  Java SE Subscription offering  to continue to receive Java SE 8 updates. This subscription covers all Java 8 SE licensing and support needs. If you cannot migrate applications with dependencies on Java 8 over to Java 10 by then, this is your option to continue to gain security updates until you migrate. To know more about this, refer to  Oracle SE Java Support Roadmap

Desktop Central will continue to support Java SE 8 by using the “ Upload Patches ” option. This means that Desktop Central will continue to update Java SE 8 instances in your environment, but it will be based on the customer's choice to upload it into the patch repository. This change keeps both Desktop Central and our customers in compliance with Oracle’s licensing for Java SE 8.

If you're facing issues in downloading Oracle patches like JRE 8, JDK 8 and JDK 11 for Windows and JRE 8 for Mac, you can go through the resolution provided in this  Knowledge Base  and use the  Upload Patches  option to install them.
