I am a user of ManageEngine Service Desk Plus Enterprise and would like some advise on my Service Catalog.
The workflows don't appear to be powerful so I would like to use the Field and Form Rules to achieve my objectives. Unfortunately the rules don't have the feature that I want as a default option.
What I want is, that when a field value is changed on a particular field, it must email a particular individual to notify them than someone requested access while another field value may require another email to someone else.
I hope that this can be achieved with the custom script section.
Workflows are not enough as I find that it is very one dimensional.
The scenario is like this. My New User form contains all the LoB systems a user can request access to. User 1 may need access to system A, B and F, while user two needs access to system E, G and Z. If I attach a workflow to the request, The system champion for systems EGZ will receive an approval request even when a new user requires access to only ABF which will frustrate everyone.
I think that the rules allow for more granularity.
With the rules, I can say if a user requests access to system ABF that system champion will be informed while if system EGZ is required only that champion will be informed even though it is in the same form.
I would like to do this because I think logging multiple requests are also frustrating. User would not like to log seven requests for one user to gain system access.
I hope there is a way and that someone has the know how to help.
