Is there a visual method that identifies when a server/group/categaroy is actively being repressed do to a Downtime Schedule?
When a Downtime Schedule is in effect, does it simply prevent E-mail alerts from being fired or should it also just "not poll" the object chosen. For example, I have two servers scheduled to be in a Downtime status, but both are still showing on the Server Maps page as in alarm. We would prefer to have the server icon changed to something identifying that it's down for scheduled maint.
Lastly, our daily scheduled maint usually occur across day changes (i.e. start before and finish after midnight). So I I'm guessing I need to create 2 downtime schedules; one for 22:30 - 23:45 and another for 00:00 - 2:30. Since I can only choose the drop down which offers 00, 15, 30, 45; this makes a 15min window (between 11:45pm and 12am, that I cannot have the devices in downtime and thus if polled during that time, get alerts.
I tried setting one starting 22:30 - 2:30, but I'm assuming it is confused as we still got alerts.
Again, if there was a visual queue when affected by Downtime, I could better trouble-shoot and non-in-the-know personnel would know to ignore alerts unless the 'maint' icon (or whatever) was not showing for that device.
Thanks,
