We are currently in the process of building a new DC (domain controller). Whereas the old domain name was aapg.org, the new domain will be corp.aapg.org. When the new domain goes live, we will need to run around basically re-joining all the computers and servers, updating all their shortcuts and pointers (because IP addresses will be changing too), etc, etc..
Basically it's a new network, with all the same stuff juggled around into a more organized fashion. Here are my concerns with regard to ServiceDesk Plus:
- When I rebuild active directory, everyone will have the same name as before, although they may end up in different groups or OUs. How can I make sure that they are still able to log into the ticketing system, and see all the tickets that they've opened in the past? Is this even possible?
- How should I go about importing my users given my concerns above?
- Should I just remove all previous computer assets and assignments and scan everything again?....
I have a ton more concerns. But basically I'm wondering, what does AdventNet recommend when transitioning from one domain name to another without starting from scratch?
