DNS lookups on device addition
A related question has been asked before, but I'd basically like to know why DE displays the 'Host Name' in the inventory list as the PTR record for the device IP rather than the name I entered when adding the device. Is there any technical reason for this?
This is very inconvenient because I need to add many devices where I do not control PTR records. So I would like to have the host name displayed exactly as it was entered rather than having DE display the result of a PTR lookup (which may or may not be what we want depending on whether or not we control those records).
For now at least I can edit the device properties once the device is created, but I'm faced with doing this for 200 devices. Is there any way to disable this behavior?
