Here is a set of frequently asked questions about the recently launched Distributed edition of ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer.
1. Is it fine to run OpManager and NetFlow Analyzer on the same server?
To ensure that the performance doesn’t take a hit, we do not recommend running both OpManager and NetFlow Analyzer on the server. We recommend using dedicated servers for OpManager and NetFlow Analyzer Distributed edition in order to achieve maximum performance.
2. What are the flow formats supported by the Distributed edition of NetFlow Analyzer?
Here are the flow formats that NetFlow Analyzer supports(in all the three editions viz. Professional, Professional Plus and the Distributed edition)
Yes. NetFlow Analyzer is capable of identifying applications with SSL types such as https
4. Can the tool monitor web traffic such as Facebook etc.?
As of now, full-fledged granularity at that level is not available but by manual resolving DNS names.
5. How does the Enterprise edition to Distributed edition migration happen?
The new Distributed edition comes with the HighPerf Reporting Engine add-on bundled by default. The new features that we will roll out in the future would have a very high dependency on the HighPerf Reporting Engine. Since the add-on is bundled by default, a differential cost based on the number of interfaces, is involved.
6. Can I continue with the old Enterprise edition without migration?
Technical support will be provided for Enterprise edition installations to users. However, there will be no feature enhancements or developments in the product side for the Enterprise edition.
