Is there a easy way to disable past due notifications for tasks that are placed ON HOLD?

For example: A task that was originally scheduled from January 1st - 10th is placed ON HOLD by a PM within that timeframe. The PM then gets a notification on the 11th that the task is past due even though the task is ON HOLD.
