Device Distinction ie. Device Specific data fields
Given that it seems CMDB will not be in the Professional version of SDP, I would like to request a feature be added to the professional version of the software for establishing device distinction. This is something that desperately needs to be added to this version.
Currently we have the areas of:
Workstation - Additional Fields
Asset - Additional Fields
While these areas provide us with the ability to add extra detail to the workstation assets we track, the Assets - Additional Fields loses its benefit when you begin to track some of the finer details of assets. The fields in this area carry over to every asset regardless of its device type. If I add a custom field that tracks the Jet Direct firmware version of a printer, I don't need to see that on a monitor asset. Vice versa, I don't need to see a Manufacturer date field of a monitor on a Printer asset.
Please add the ability to define device types and associate custom fields for each of those device types so that we can better track our non-workstation assets.
