Desktop Sharing Extraordinarily Slow

We have 3 installations of DC 6 at our facilities. All 3 are exhibiting the same exact problem with Desktop Sharing - it's horribly slow. So slow it's unusable.
The ActiveX agent gets installed without issue. The end PC's are all Windows XP SP2. The only TSR on the PC is Eset NOD32 and Java.
Do you have any hints as to why it's so slow or what I could do to speed it up?
Searched your blog and faq and found nothing. Please help.
