I am testing the use of Alerts to notify users of pending expiring passwords.
I setup an alert as shown below (Pic1).
Some questions about the Alerts.
1) My goal is to begin notifying the user at 7 days till their password expires, but to notify them daily until the last day. Will this Alert function like this?
2) Is the setup of this Alert perpetual? Our password policy cycles every 60 days. Will the user be notified in the future each time their password comes due for expiration in 60 days then again in 120 days, 180 days, 240 days, ...
3) I am not clear on the '
Configure Execution Settings'. For '
Retry this configuration on failed targets' is this only to retry applying the configuration to failed machines? I ask because the wording seems strange. It seems to have a great number of options for re-trying a failed execution. What if it succeeds? As you can see in Pic 2, all of the accounts on the domain tested succeeded. Does that mean that the Alert has been added to their account successfully & that from now on, they will receive this notification of pending PW resets every day until they reset their password? Related to question 2).
3) When I look at the log (Pic 2), what does Executed At tell me? Is this the time that the configuration was downloaded to the user's device or is this the time at which the user was notified/ acknowledged the alert? I am really after tractability that the Customer was notified that their PW was expiring. I want to be able to tell an customer who complains that they were not notified, that 'our records show you acknowledging that your pw was expiring on this date & time'
