Desktop Central Best Practices?
We have a mixture of older Pentium 4 computers and newer. I setup an patch deployment for 18:00 and specify our power management software to wake the machines at 19:00. The theory is to start the patch downloading and then when the computer wakes up, install the patches.
On some machines, this works great. On other machines, the wakeup command does not get processed and therefore Desktop Central installs the patches when the user logs on. Just like it is supposed to.
The issue comes with having to wait while Desktop Central installs the patches. After the user logs on, but before the desktop shows up, there is a significant wait while Desktop Central processes the patches.
Is there a way that I can setup Desktop Central so that when a user logs on, it lets them in and then starts processing the patches in the background as opposed to first logging in?
