Trying to utilize Dell command update's CLI using desktop central. For the most part, it works.
But.. results vary and are very inconsistent
Here is configuration that works for x64 systems. normally packages fail in desktop central all the time when adding the /reboot switch, hence the post deployment activity. But the dells won't reboot at all without reboot switch despite having the "run anyway if above actions fail" checked in post deployment.
I have the configuration status attached. (another problem is remarks are not exported to spreadsheet)
usually a successful execution will have a remark of:
I also have plenty of these, despite dell command v2.4 being installed for x64 system
and to add to my frustrations I have some that execute as expected with "success" remark
Why would I be getting wildly inconstant results for an extremely simple command?
BUT WAIT, thats not all!
Lets say we would want to allow standard non-admin users run dell command update from the GUI. That should be as simple as publishing this package to a computer group in self service.
And this does work!
Except for one peculiar issue. when dell command update is launched from the self service portal with this method and dell command update updates the WiFi drivers.. it will disable the wireless card.
it can be re enabled, But why in the first place?
These are not what I would call complicated tasks. I don't feel I should be experiencing this many frustrations for uncomplicated tasks.
I would really appreciate some insight on why I'm witnessing this behavior.
Thank you!
