Database restore over a newer version

Hi, I tried to restored a database from PMP version build 4603 to a fresh install PMP version build 4701. After that, each time I tried to run the PMP I got "Error Occured" before I could even type my credentials.

The only way I've been able to use the same database is that I had to upgrade my build 4603 to 4701 using the process in the Upgrade section of the website, then make a Backup of the DB and then restore the DB on the other server.

Now my question. If i run a PMP version without upgrading it over the time, then let's say the PMP software crash and suppose I am force to do a fresh install to the latest version. How should I suppose to restore the DB if my initial backup is from an earlier version than my fresh install?
