Credential Details - Apply Global Parameters WMI FAILED

Using Opmgr 8720. I have added a Windows 2003 Server running SQL 2008. When I choose to use "Apply Global Parameters" and choose the correct AD login and "Test Credential", I get DENIED. When I use the exact same login information (domainuame and pw) under "Use the below credential for the device" and choose "Test Credential", I get PASSED. I can then monitor the CPU, DISK and RAM, but am unable to monitor SQL using for latter. Please advise.
I have not installed 8721 because it caused the server list view to show duplicate servers and the updates OpmanagerServerClasses.jar has not resolved either.
